**Installation and Maintenance of Machinery**:

- Install, maintain, and repair machines, conveyors, pumps, mixers, and other equipment used in food production.
- Ensure that machinery is in good working condition and troubleshoot issues promptly to prevent production downtime.
- **Preventive Maintenance**:

- Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on machines and systems to avoid breakdowns and improve machine longevity.
- Lubricate moving parts, replace worn-out components, and clean the equipment regularly.
- **Troubleshooting**:

- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on mechanical and electrical systems.
- Replace defective parts such as gears, valves, and pipes as per operational requirements.
- **System Adjustments**:

- Adjust machine settings to ensure production processes such as mixing, grinding, or packaging are optimized for maximum efficiency.
- Calibrate machines according to specifications to maintain quality and accuracy in food processing.
- **Safety Compliance**:

- Ensure that all machinery and equipment meet safety standards to prevent accidents.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines, especially when dealing with food-grade machines and equipment.
- **Quality Control**:

- Ensure that the equipment operates in compliance with food safety standards, helping to maintain the hygiene and quality of the food products.
- Support in ensuring that production meets regulatory requirements related to food safety and quality standards.
- **Collaboration with Other Teams**:

- Work closely with production, quality control, and management teams to ensure the smooth operation of the food manufacturing process.
- Assist in setting up and modifying machines for new product lines or seasonal production.
- **Documentation and Reporting**:

- Maintain accurate records of machine maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
- Report any major issues to the maintenance supervisor or plant manager.

**Qualifications for ITI Fitter in the Food Industry**
- **Educational Qualifications**:

- **ITI Certification** in Fitter trade (2 years duration) is mandatory. This is typically obtained after completing secondary education (10th grade).
- In some cases, a **Diploma in Mechanical Engineering** or related fields may be considered advantageous, especially for more complex roles.
- **Skills and Knowledge**:

- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, welding, and machining.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and manuals.
- Understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and other mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with food industry standards for hygiene, safety, and quality.
- **Work Experience**:

- Prior experience in machinery maintenance, preferably in manufacturing or food processing industries, is often required.
- Experience with food-grade equipment (e.g., pasteurizers, slicers, packing machines) is a plus.
