Ot Technician

**Job Title: OT-Technician**

The position holder is accountable and responsible for Assessing, Planning, Implementing and Evaluating the Nursing Care given to the Patient. As part of a multidisciplinary team the post holder will have responsibility for assessment of care needs and evaluation of programmes of care ensuring the delivery of high quality care to patients in the Operating Theatre unit.

Job Duties

1 Checks whether the patient transferred in from the ward has been prepared for surgery.

2 Checks the completeness of the pre operative checklist including consent for surgery while receiving the patient from the wards / ICU / A&E.

3 Prepares the OT for the planned surgery, arranges the correct equipment required for the surgery.

4 Checks whether the correct instrument sets reach the OT. Maintain count of the operative instrument/swab etc., used during surgery and updates the count book.

5 The Scrub Nurse she / he must under take to wash instruments after the completion of the surgery. After washing of the soiled instruments they have to be sent to the CSSD for sterilization

6 The OT scrub / circulating nurse shall keep track of medicine / consumable used for each surgery.

7 Ensure replacement of all items that have been used from the OT stock.

8 To work in all areas of the Operation Theatre.

9 To participate as a scrubbed member of Theatre team providing assistance to medical staff as required.

10 Ensure that articles/consumables that were not used for the surgery are replaced in the proper place.

11 Ensures that the specimen collected during the surgery is handled according to hospital protocol and that it is handed over to the respective unit staff Nurse.

12 Ensure disposable items disposed as per hospital policy and ensure bio medical waste disposed as per hospital policy.

13 As per the Nursing Supervisors request will work as a recovery room staff when needed.

14 When designated as the circulating nurse, she will provide consumables / CSSD packs to the scrub nurse as per her request.

15 Ensures the transfer of patient to the wards/ units/SICU.

16 Hands over the patient to the recovery room nurse after completion of the surgery.

17 Hands over the patient to the SICU staff nurses when transferring to SICU

18 Ensure replacement of all items that have been used from the OT stock.

Check for the billing clearance.

19 Shall perform any other work as assigned by the superiors.

**SCRUB NURSE**

1 Ensure that all biomedical equipment like OT light OT table is checked prior to the surgery.

2 Knowledge regarding the SOPs and clinical protocols of the OT is mandatory.

3 Participates in the planning, maintenance and inventory of equipment and supplies in the unit.

4 Coordinates with Medical, Non
- Medical team for smooth functioning of the OT.

5 Coordinates with various departments such as CSSD, Biomedical, Purchase, Pharmacy, Laundry, Maintenance and Operations

6 Assists surgeon during surgery.

7 Maintain count of the operative instrument/swab/etc., used during surgery and count book updating.

8 Ensure that all items are available for the case in OT

9 Supervise distribution of OT instrument set in each OT.

10 Ensure that disposable items are disposed as per hospital policy.

11 Ensure biomedical waste disposal as per norms.

12 Ensure the scrub nurses update count book and CSSD sterilization book.

13 Ensure the OT is cleaned and fumigated and all slippers are collected and washed by OT staff.

14 Ensure that all specimens have been handed over to the respective unit staff Nurse.

15 Indent for the OT supplies should be raised.

16 Ensure that the patient handing over and taking over takes place appropriately.

17 To participate in leading, supporting, counseling and appraising junior grades of staff to ensure development needs are identified and an organized multidisciplinary team approach is maintained.

18 Shall perform any other work as assigned by the superiors

Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹15,000.00 per month
