All Rounder Chef
An **All-Rounder Chef**, also known as a **Multi-Skilled Chef** or **Generalist Chef**, is expected to be versatile and capable of handling all aspects of the kitchen, from preparation to cooking, and even management. They are skilled in multiple cooking techniques and are capable of working in all areas of the kitchen, such as the pantry, grill, pastry section, and hot line.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Food Preparation & Cooking**:
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes, including appetizers, mains, sides, and desserts.
- Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and quality of dishes at all times.
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment such as stoves, ovens, grills, blenders, etc.
- Follow standard recipes and techniques to prepare meals, adjusting portions when needed.
- Assist in creating new menu items or making suggestions for menu updates.
- **Kitchen Management**:
- Assist with daily kitchen operations, ensuring all food safety standards and cleanliness protocols are followed.
- Ensure the kitchen and workstations are clean, organized, and safe.
- Monitor food inventory, check stock levels, and assist in ordering supplies.
- Ensure proper storage of food and ingredients to prevent spoilage and waste.
- Assist in training junior kitchen staff or apprentices.
- **Multi-Tasking Across Kitchen Stations**:
- Work across different sections of the kitchen (e.g., hot line, cold line, pastry, grill).
- Be adaptable and proficient in working under pressure in different sections based on the kitchen's needs.
- Prepare and plate dishes quickly and efficiently during peak times.
- **Quality Control**:
- Ensure high standards of hygiene and food safety in all aspects of cooking and preparation.
- Check that all food leaving the kitchen meets the restaurant's quality standards for taste, appearance, and portion size.
- Perform regular quality checks and tasting of dishes to ensure consistency and adherence to recipes.
- **Customer Satisfaction**:
- Ensure dishes are prepared according to customer specifications, particularly for dietary restrictions and allergies.
- Work with the front-of-house staff to accommodate any special customer requests or complaints.
- **Collaboration and Teamwork**:
- Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation during service times.
- Maintain good communication with team members and supervisors.
- Assist the head chef and sous chef with any ad-hoc duties as required.
**Requirements**:
- Proven experience as a chef, preferably in various kitchen sections.
- Strong culinary skills with the ability to handle diverse types of cuisine.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and kitchen hygiene practices.
- Ability to multitask and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility and willingness to work different shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
**Preferred Skills**:
- Knowledge of different culinary techniques and world cuisines.
- Experience in kitchen management or leading small teams.
- Ability to handle large volumes of orders efficiently.
- Creativity and passion for food.
- Must know South Indian, North Indian, Chinese food.
**Job Type**: Full-time
An All-Rounder Chef is essentially a jack-of-all-trades in the kitchen, capable of taking on different roles to ensure the kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently. This role requires flexibility, creativity, and excellent time-management skills.
