Job Specification: TEST Engineer (Backend, API and Web-services Testing)

Education & Training
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Electronics & Communication/Electrical Engineering or in a relevant stream.

Experience
- Collaborate in designing QA methodologies and validation strategies by analyzing business and technical requirements to identify test requirements and ensuring that the software meets specifications.
- Develop, maintain and execute manual/automated test cases for functional, acceptance, integration, regression, system, stress/performance and high-availability testing of RESTful API’s.
- Identify areas for automation, collect test data requirements, propose new test metrics and techniques to maximize testing efficiency and scalability.
- Utilize and integrate latest software technologies and tools to perform analysis, verification and validation.
- Participate in development, planning, estimation and prioritization processes for all testing activities to ensure project timelines and deliverables are met.
- Provide work breakdown, document defects with root cause analysis and status update throughout the project release life cycle.
- Provide peer code review and mentorship to other QA team members
- Experience in automotive industry is a plus.

**Skills**:

- QA/Test Automation experience in a technology-related industry
- Proficient in QA methodologies, Agile STLC principles, test automation framework, different verification/validation techniques, and test management.
- Extensive experience in testing REST & HTTP web services, JSON/XML, web apps and relational databases.
- Experience in automation testing of RESTful API services using tools like Jmeter, SoapUI, Cucumber, TestNG and related development tools.
- Experience in creation of mock responses using platforms like Apiary/Stoplight.
- Proficient in using test management tools like JIRA,TestRail, HP ALM
- Familiar with scripting languages(JavaScript, Perl, Python, Groovy, or Ruby)
- Comfortable working on small, cross-functional, fast paced teams
- Experience testing newly built or modified API services
- Experience with Git is good to have
- Experience with Jenkins and CI are a plus
- Knowledge of modern best practices for professional software development including source control management, build processes, release management and development.
- Demonstrated excellent analytical, problem solving skills and a passion for learning and technology.
- Highly self-motivated and excellent attention to detail

Job Responsibilities
- Create and maintain api-based automation test scripts using tools like Jmeter,Cucumber,SoapUI-NG
- Create and maintain api-specific test plans
- Conducting Performance and Load tests on the API’s and provide detailed report and analysis on metrics like Breakage point etc.
- Participate in creating and clarifying User Stories, and in planning Sprints.
- Maintaining all the testing artifacts in Sharepoint.
- Updating test management tools (JIRA etc) so that the current status of the project can be known at any time by stakeholders.
- Issue tracking, analysis and reporting.
- Mentor inexperienced testers.
