**Job Description - Nursing Incharge**
**Objective**:
The Nursing Incharge at a Mother and Child Care Hospital is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of nursing care are delivered to mothers, newborns, and children. This role involves supervising nursing staff, coordinating maternity and pediatric care services, and maintaining compliance with maternal and child healthcare protocols.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Leadership and Supervision**:
- Oversee the nursing team in maternity, labor, delivery, NICU, and pediatric wards.
- Ensure optimal staff allocation and duty rosters to maintain seamless operations.
- Mentor and support nursing staff, fostering a compassionate and efficient care environment.
- **Patient Care Management**:
- Monitor the quality of care provided to mothers, newborns, and pediatric patients.
- Address critical cases, emergencies, or patient care escalations requiring managerial intervention.
- Ensure proper documentation of patient progress and adherence to care plans.
- **Administrative Responsibilities**:
- Develop and implement protocols specific to maternal and child health care.
- Manage departmental budgets, procurements, and inventory of medical supplies.
- Conduct audits to ensure compliance with safety and hygiene standards.
- **Training and Professional Development**:
- Organize specialized training programs in areas such as neonatal care, breastfeeding support, and pediatric emergency protocols.
- Conduct periodic performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
- Stay updated with advancements in maternal and child care practices and share knowledge with staff.
- **Interdisciplinary Collaboration**:
- Work closely with obstetricians, pediatricians, and other medical professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
- Act as a liaison between patients, families, and the medical team to address concerns or queries effectively.
- **Health and Safety Compliance**:
- Monitor infection control measures in maternity, NICU, and pediatric units.
- Ensure that all equipment and facilities are in safe and functional condition.
- Respond swiftly and efficiently to any emergencies or safety incidents.
**Qualifications and Skills**:
- **Education**:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Nursing (B.Sc. or M.Sc. Nursing).
- Additional certification in maternal and child health or neonatal care is preferred.
- **Experience**:
- Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with at least 2 years in maternity or pediatric care.
- Prior supervisory or managerial experience in a healthcare setting is an asset.
- **Skills**:
- Strong leadership, multitasking, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with patients and families.
- In-depth knowledge of maternal, neonatal, and pediatric care protocols.
- Familiarity with hospital management systems and documentation standards.
