- **Head of SRE Strategy

**Location-Pune / Bangalore**

**Role Description**

Reporting to the Head of Infrastructure Architecture Strategy, the Head of SRE Strategy will be responsible for developing and enhancing the existing Reliability Strategy by designing and contributing to the delivery of the SRE Strategy within Public, Hybrid and Private Cloud. Working closely with the Cloud and Infrastructure engineering, Cloud architecture and Reliability groups, you will be responsible for ensuring Reliability is ingrained in everything we do.

Specifically, you will be responsible for ensuring that our SRE Strategy ensures we have full Observability Capabilities, Service Level Objectives (SLOs), Error Budgets, and Toil Budgets for the services we build. You will be an evangelist for SRE, not only within the Cloud and Infrastructure Architecture group, but throughout Technology across the bank - sharing your knowledge and enabling Application Development teams to transform the way they run software.

An excellent communicator, able to influence stakeholders at all levels of a large corporation, you will be deeply familiar with SRE principles and will be the person in your organisation who people come to ask questions about how to implement SRE best practices. You will have had experience defining SLOs, running with Error Budgets, and implementing Chaos Engineering techniques.

**Your key responsibilities**
- Develop and drive the SRE Strategy across the bank
- Ensure our SRE Strategy is consistent and applicable across all our venues
- Evangelise SRE and our SRE Strategy with all stakeholders across all divisions / functions of the bank
- Ensure SRE Best Practices are developed and implemented across Engineering and Infrastructure Teams
- Drive not only the technical implementation but also the mindset / culture change required to successfully implement SRE
- Bring expertise to bear on the design and engineering of the product to ensure reliability and high availability concerns are up front.
- Work with our Product Engineers to improve the release automation pipelines and our automated testing, to ensure that our releases are high quality, and that we can make them faster and more frequent
- Discover opportunities to automate manual interactions with our systems. Define and implement self-healing and self-management for the platforms.
- Ensure continuity of service through capacity planning, game days, chaos engineering
- Participate and represent SRE on various Forums across the bank
- Maintain overall industry knowledge on latest trends, technology, etc.

**Your skills and experience**
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field
- 5 years’ experience in a platform engineering role, with exposure to infrastructure and middleware platforms.
- 4 years’ experience in an SRE, Dev Ops, or Platform Engineering role, working on mission critical systems
- Deep familiarity with any Public Cloud Provider, but especially GCP
- Experience with large heterogenous distributed systems, both in-cloud, hybrid and on-premises
- Clear understanding of SRE principles and eagerness to put them into practice
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Experience of influencing stakeholders at all levels of the Corporate Ladder
- Familiarity with the Risk Control Frameworks and the Regulatory Regime the bank operates in
- History of mentoring junior resources, and ability to influence across engineering teams
