A joiner, also known as a carpenter or bench joiner, works with timber to construct, install, and repair structures and fixtures for buildings. Their responsibilities include:

- Designing and creating: Designing structures, creating cutting lists, and estimating materials
- Installing: Installing structures and fixtures, such as windows, doors, and staircases
- Working with materials: Measuring, cutting, and shaping wood, plastic, and other materials
- Using equipment: Using traditional tools, computerized cutting equipment, and drawing and design software

Working with suppliers: Working with suppliers and sub-contractors Joiners may work on residential and commercial construction projects, and may also work on large structures such as bridges and dams.

To become a joiner, you typically need a high school diploma or equivalent, and may also benefit from vocational training or an apprenticeship. You should also have strong mathematical skills, be physically fit, and have good hand-eye coordination
