A junior merchandiser in the têxtile industry is responsible for a range of tasks, including:

- **Managing sales and stock**:

- A junior merchandiser is responsible for the sales and stock of a fashion range for the current season. They also plan for future seasons by determining how much stock to buy.
- **Working with buying teams**:

- A junior merchandiser works with buying teams to ensure products are in the right stores and quantities, and to decide how to display them to maximize sales.
- **Forecasting**:

- A junior merchandiser forecasts sales and profit, and optimizes sales volume and profitability.
- **Planning budgets**:

- A junior merchandiser plans budgets and controls stock levels.
- **Managing the work of others**:

- A junior merchandiser may manage the work of an assistant merchandiser and a merchandise admin assistant.
- **Ordering fabrics and trims**:

- A junior merchandiser may order fabrics and trims from a supplier nominated by the buyer, or from a local supplier.
- **Sending fit samples**:

- A junior merchandiser may send fit samples with available fabric for woven or knitted styles.
- **Communicating internally and externally**:

- A junior merchandiser may enable internal and external communication.
