Station Management: The CDP often oversees a specific station in the kitchen, such as the grill, sauté, or pastry section. They must ensure that all items on their station are prepared, cooked, and presented correctly and efficiently.

Menu Development: Collaborating with the head chef or sous chef to develop and refine menu items from various cuisines. This may involve creating new dishes or adjusting existing ones to meet customer expectations and seasonal changes.

Food Safety and Hygiene: Maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and adhering to food safety and hygiene standards to prevent contamination and ensure food safety.

Ingredient Preparation: Preparing and organizing ingredients, including chopping, marinating, and measuring, to ensure that they are readily available for use during service.

Quality Control: Consistently monitoring the quality of dishes and tasting them to ensure they meet the restaurant's standards and are seasoned correctly.

Work Coordination: Collaborating with other kitchen staff, such as sous chefs, line cooks, and dishwashers, to ensure a smooth and efficient service. This may involve managing a team of commis chefs or apprentices.

Training and Development: Assisting in the training and mentoring of junior kitchen staff, teaching them cooking techniques, and ensuring they follow best practices.

Inventory Management: Keeping track of inventory, ordering supplies, and managing food costs by minimizing wastage and ensuring efficient use of ingredients.

Creativity: Contributing ideas for new dishes, techniques, or improvements in presentation to keep the menu fresh and exciting for customers.

Time Management: Efficiently managing time during high-pressure service periods to ensure orders are prepared and delivered on time.

Adaptability: Being able to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment and adapt to changes in the menu, ingredients, or customer preferences.
