Job Title: Pastry Chef
Department: Kitchen / Bakery
Reports To: Executive Chef / Head Chef
Job Summary:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Baking & Dessert Creation:
'¢ Prepare a variety of baked goods, including pastries, cakes, cookies, and bread.
'¢ Design and create innovative desserts, ensuring they align with seasonal trends and customer preferences.
'¢ Develop new recipes and enhance existing ones to maintain high-quality standards.
2. Kitchen Management & Operations:
'¢ Oversee the daily operations of the pastry section.
'¢ Ensure proper storage, labeling, and handling of ingredients.
'¢ Maintain kitchen hygiene and comply with food safety regulations.
3. Team Leadership & Training:
'¢ Supervise and train junior pastry chefs and kitchen staff.
'¢ Assign tasks and ensure smooth workflow within the pastry section.
'¢ Foster a creative and collaborative kitchen environment.
4. Quality Control & Consistency:
'¢ Monitor the quality, taste, and presentation of all desserts and pastries.
'¢ Conduct regular quality checks and ensure consistency in every batch.
'¢ Manage portion sizes and ingredient costs to maintain profitability.
5. Inventory & Cost Control:
'¢ Order and manage stock for baking ingredients and equipment.
'¢ Monitor ingredient usage to minimize waste and control costs.
'¢ Collaborate with suppliers to source high-quality ingredients.
6. Customer Interaction & Feedback:
'¢ Work closely with the restaurant team to understand customer preferences.
'¢ Take feedback into account to improve and refine pastry offerings.
'¢ Occasionally interact with customers for special orders or events.
Requirements & Qualifications:
'¢ Education: Diploma/Degree in Pastry Arts, Baking, or Culinary Arts.
'¢ Experience: Minimum 2'“5 years of experience as a Pastry Chef or in a similar role.
'¢ Skills:
'¢ Strong baking and pastry-making skills.
'¢ Expertise in chocolate work, sugar art, and cake decoration is a plus.
'¢ Ability to create and experiment with new recipes.
'¢ Excellent time management and organizational skills.
'¢ Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene regulations.
'¢ Leadership and team management skills.
'¢ Personal Attributes:
'¢ Creativity and passion for baking.
'¢ Attention to detail and a keen sense of aesthetics.
'¢ Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen.
