**_Job Profile_**:
TERI-s Transport and Urban Governance Division (TUGD) has a vision to help create sustainable, resilient, and 'smarter
- cities. With the emphasis on cities globally, TUGD conducts urban policy analysis, sustainable urban planning, capacity building, and knowledge creation. Since its inception, TUGD has been providing technical support and advisory to multiple cities across the country in planning for sustainable and smart urban development, including preparation of climate resilience strategies and city-level climate action plans. The division has also been conducting several capacity building and training workshops, stakeholder consultations, and policy dialogues for enhancing capacities of urban practitioners across India. TUGD has been successful in impacting regional, national, and global efforts towards urban climate resilience.

Position Overview:
TERI is seeking an Associate Fellow to join the Urban Governance team of the Transport and Urban Governance Division. This position provides a unique opportunity for those willing to work with ministries, urban local bodies, policy thinktanks, research institutions, citizens/communities, and multi-lateral organizations to facilitate the technical and capacity building assistance required for developing smart and climate resilient cities.

Responsibilities and Key Competencies:

- Proficiency in conducting qualitative and quantitative research and data analysis in the urban development, climate change (mitigation and adaptation) fields.
- Adequate knowledge of city level climate assessment frameworks and other climate action tools in the local context.
- Support the project team in capacity building activities
- Ability to carry out stakeholder mapping and identification exercises for workshops/policy dialogues.
- Experience in organizing stakeholder engagement workshops with diverse stakeholders, including the vulnerable/marginalised groups of society.
- Ability to work with urban local bodies in strengthening their capacities.
- Contribute in knowledge creation and dissemination activities throughout the project
- Proficiency in developing knowledge products, including policy briefs, working papers, journal articles, and blogs.
- Proficiency in report writing and documentation.

**_Experience_**:
5 - 7 years

**_Qualification_**:

- Completed Master-s degree in Urban Planning/Regional Planning/Urban Development/ Public Policy/any other relevant social sciences field.
- Preferable Ph.D. in the field of research under the relevant area of expertise.
- 5-7 years of relevant professional experience of working in reputed public/private sector agencies, with national/international development organizations, research/policy thinktanks, or with multilateral/bilateral institutions.
- Work experience in the field of urban climate action with a focus on climate adaptation and disaster risk reduction is required.

**_Skills_**:

- Proficiency in software skills such as ArcGIS, QGIS, R, Microsoft Office (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.).
- Proven writing skills with a credible publications record.
- Strong communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and explore new experiences
