
Infection Control Nurse

Responsibilities
- Monitors patient care activities to identify methods, techniques, equipment, supplies or new products that may constitute a risk for originating or transmitting infection
- Demonstrates knowledge of infection control
- Surveillance, analysis, interpretation and reporting of HAIs
- Data input and reporting
- Ensuring that hospital's standards meet regulatory requirements
- Maintains Infection Control manual, Blood borne Pathogen and TB Exposure Control Plans to reflect compliance with industry, government and other regulatory agencies regulations and standards
- Conducts surveillance activities to identify infections including identifying trends, monitoring and reporting information to appropriate committees or individuals when indicated
- Enters information into the Office of Public Health Department Reportable Disease data base for the state of Louisiana
- Provides ongoing infection control education to all health care workers and education to staff regarding best practices for removal and device infection prevention

- **Qualifications**:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required;
- Diploma in Infection Control Nurse
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with a focus on infection control preferred.
- Experience in a healthcare setting, such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, or clinics, is highly desirable.
- Licensure and Certification:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in [State].
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred or obtained within a specified period of employment.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of infection control practices, epidemiology, and microbiology.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and infection control software.
