Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Academic Advisor to join our team. The Academic Advisor will play a critical role in guiding students through their educational journey, helping them make informed decisions about their academic and career paths. This role involves providing personalized advice on course selection, academic planning, and career opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

- Student Counseling: Provide one-on-one academic counseling to students, helping them select courses, majors, and programs that align with their academic interests and career goals.
- Academic Planning: Assist students in developing academic plans, including course scheduling, degree requirements, and graduation timelines. Ensure that students understand and meet all academic requirements.
- Career Guidance: Offer advice on potential career paths, internships, and further education opportunities based on the student’s interests, skills, and academic performance.
- Progress Monitoring: Track and monitor students’ academic progress, identifying any issues or challenges they may face. Provide support and resources to help students overcome obstacles and achieve academic success.
- Program Information: Provide detailed information about the institution’s academic programs, including course content, prerequisites, and career outcomes. Help students understand the benefits of various programs and make informed choices.
- Transfer Assistance: Assist students who are transferring from other institutions or who are considering transferring, ensuring that they receive accurate information about credit transfers and course equivalencies.
- Workshops & Seminars: Organize and conduct workshops, seminars, and group sessions on topics such as study skills, time management, career planning, and course selection.
- Parental Guidance: Communicate with parents as needed to discuss their child’s academic progress, career aspirations, and available support services.
- Collaboration: Work closely with faculty, staff, and other departments to ensure students receive comprehensive support. Participate in committees and initiatives that enhance student success.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions, academic plans, and student progress. Prepare regular reports for management on advising activities and student outcomes.

Qualifications:

- Education: A bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field. A master’s degree or additional certifications in academic advising or counseling are preferred.
- Experience: Prior experience in academic advising, student counseling, or a related role within an educational institution.
- Skills:

- Strong understanding of academic programs, degree requirements, and career options
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build rapport with students and guide them through difficult decisions
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in using student information systems and Microsoft Office Suite
