**Job Description: Chief Accounts & Finance Officer**

**Job Purpose**:
The Chief Accounts & Finance Officer (CAFO) will be responsible for ensuring effective and efficient accounts and finance management within the Organization. This includes overseeing business restructuring, mergers, acquisitions, funds flow management, and managing financial risks while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

**Key Accountability**:
**Strategic**:

- Provide financial advice to the management when required.
- Establish a financial framework/strategy that ensures statutory and regulatory compliance and supports corporate governance practices.
- Analyze legal implications of various financial matters and advise internal stakeholders accordingly.

**Research & Development**:

- Stay updated on legal changes and assess their implications for the university.

**Financial & Budget Management**:

- Manage university funds, property, investments, and ensure that they align with the university's goals.
- Monitor cash flow, bank balances, and investments.
- Oversee revenue management, tracking collection processes, and advise the Vice-Chancellor on improvement methods.
- Ensure adherence to the Maharashtra Universities Account Code and have university accounts audited regularly.
- Prepare necessary financial reports for the university, government authorities, and funding bodies.
- Perform other financial duties as assigned by the Vice-Chancellor or Pro Vice-Chancellor.

**Collaborations**:

- Serve as an advocate for employees across the MIT WPU institutions.
- Represent Organization at professional bodies to enhance the university's brand.

**Operational**:

- Supervise university funds, advise on expenditures, and ensure financial oversight.
- Maintain up-to-date asset registers and conduct physical verifications.
- Propose disciplinary actions for unauthorized expenditures or financial irregularities.
- Ensure the availability of necessary financial information for proper decision-making.
- Maintain minutes of Finance and Accounts Committee meetings.
- Oversee preparation and maintenance of financial accounts, budgets, and audit reports.

- Represent Organization at conferences and seminars to boost its regional and international visibility.
- Stay informed about best practices in financial leadership.

- Experience in governance, working with boards, and operating in regulated environments.

**Minimum Qualifications & Experience**:

- Chartered Accountant (CA).
- 15 years of experience working with educational trusts.
- Strong knowledge of legal matters and updated knowledge of Indian laws.
