Product Functional Test Mechanical Technician

**DESCRIPTION**

**Job Summary**:
Responsible for preparing test articles, including initial builds and final teardowns, and installing instrumentation per relevant engineering standards. Works closely with engineers and teams to execute fatigue and functional tests, analyze data, and maintain lab equipment and processes.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Testing and Instrumentation**:

- Assist in executing tests following established procedures and methodologies.
- Prepare test articles, fixtures, rigs, and equipment for testing.
- Install and maintain test stand setups and instrumentation per engineering standards.
- Conduct data acquisition, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Perform troubleshooting of test setups and ensure timely maintenance of laboratory equipment.

**Fatigue Testing**:

- Conduct fatigue and vibration tests on engine components per the test plan.
- Develop and execute fixture designs for test setups.
- Perform periodic maintenance and calibration of lab equipment and sensors.
- Ensure 24/7 fatigue test continuity by working in shifts.
- Maintain fixture, test component (WIP) inventory, and equipment spares.

**Collaboration and Reporting**:

- Work as an active team member with cross-functional teams, including lab operations, test engineers, and customer engineering teams.
- Liaise with suppliers to support lab initiatives and equipment requirements.
- Prepare clear documentation and reports, including test methods, instrument settings, and analysis, to facilitate accurate conclusions and recommendations.

- Participate in developing better test techniques and processes to enhance safety and quality.

**Education, Licenses, and Certifications**:

- Diploma in Mechanical, Production, or Automobile Engineering is required.
- Regionally applicable certification or Associate’s Degree in a relevant field may be preferred.

**Experience**:

- 2-3 years of relevant industry experience, including:

- Fatigue and strain testing on diesel engine components.
- Servo hydraulic and electrodynamic shaker testing.
- Basic operational knowledge of servo hydraulic and shaker controllers.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Additional Responsibilities**:

- Support continuous improvement efforts, including 5S housekeeping practices in lab areas.
- Assist with indirect material procurement and expense tracking.
- Travel requirements: Less than 10% to OEM, supplier, and customer locations.

**Skills and Knowledge**:

- Hands-on experience with fatigue test equipment and controllers.
- Knowledge of IC engine components and installations.
- Familiarity with tools such as Ariba, Oracle systems, and expense tracking.
- Awareness of 5S methodologies, maintenance practices, and calibration.
