As a **Commis Chef** in the **Asian or Indian or Continental specialty** kitchen at Merlis Coimbatore, you will assist senior chefs in preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality Asian dishes. **Duties and Responsibilities Food Preparation and Cooking Assistance**
- Assist in basic food preparation such as chopping, marinating, portioning, and cooking.
- Support the CDP and Sous Chef in preparing mise-en-place for service.
- Learn and execute recipes for various Asian cuisines including Chinese, Japanese, Thai, and Korean dishes.
- Ensure all dishes are prepared according to standard recipes and plating guidelines.
**Hygiene, Safety, and Cleanliness**
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and storage areas at all times.
- Follow food safety standards and proper hygiene practices in line with HACCP policies.
- Handle kitchen equipment and ingredients safely under supervision.
**Teamwork and Learning**
- Work collaboratively with kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient service.
- Take direction from senior chefs and actively participate in on-the-job training.
- Develop culinary skills, product knowledge, and speed through continuous learning.
**Stock and Equipment Management**
- Assist in receiving, labeling, and storing raw materials properly.
- Report any shortages or equipment malfunctions to supervisors.
- Practice portion control and reduce waste to support cost efficiency.
