The role requires supervising a team of technicians and ensuring that the hospital environment remains safe and operational for patients, staff, and visitors.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Supervision of Maintenance Staff**:
- Oversee and lead the maintenance team, ensuring efficient task delegation and productivity.
- Provide training, support, and guidance to the maintenance personnel.
- **Routine Maintenance and Repairs**:
- Conduct regular inspections of the hospital facilities, including HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing, and medical equipment.
- Ensure timely maintenance and repair of hospital infrastructure to avoid disruptions in operations.
- **Compliance and Safety**:
- Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with health and safety regulations, particularly within a healthcare environment.
- Implement safety procedures and conduct safety training for maintenance staff.
- **Equipment and Facility Management**:
- Maintain hospital equipment, manage inventories of tools, and ensure availability of critical spare parts.
- Coordinate with third-party vendors and contractors for specialized repairs or services.
- **Reporting and Record-Keeping**:
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance schedules, repairs, and equipment history.
- Report to the hospital administrator on facility conditions, ongoing maintenance work, and future needs.
- **Emergency Response**:
- Be available for emergency maintenance situations that could affect the hospital’s operations.
- Manage crisis scenarios effectively to minimize disruption to patient care.
**Qualifications and Skills**:
- **Experience**: Minimum of 2 years of experience in facility maintenance or a similar role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- **Education**: A degree or certification in engineering, facility management, or a related field is preferred.
- **Skills**:
- Strong knowledge of building systems such as electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and medical equipment.
- Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, especially in emergencies.
- Proficiency in maintenance software and reporting tools.
**Other Requirements**:
- Willingness to be on call during emergencies.
- Strong communication skills to work with different hospital departments and external vendors.
