**Job Description: Counsellor (Children and Adolescents)**

**About Aasraa Trust**:
Aasraa Trust was established in 2009 to work with society’s most underprivileged and vulnerable children from the streets and slums of Dehradun. Aasraa is not just a charity but a vehicle for empowerment through education, skills training, nutrition, healthcare and shelter homes. Starting with street level mobilization, Aasraa uses a multi-faced approach that prepares children for mainstream education and transition to higher studies and skills training.

Aasraa is certified by national Institute of Open Schooling and works with the education department of Uttarakhand to improve the quality of education at 9 government school in Dehradun. Aasraa is also implementing a Girl Education Program in four girls Inter Collages in Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand. Aasraa has built shelters for orphaned, abandoned, abused and special needs children.

Aasraa started 14 years ago with 35 children and it’s now supports over 9000 children from the streets and slums across 50 project in Dehradun district.

**Job Summary**:
As a Counsellor at Aasraa Trust, you will play a vital role in providing counselling services to children and adolescents, helping them navigate the challenges they face and develop the skills needed for a successful future. Your responsibilities will include individual and group counselling and collaborating with project leaders to ensure the well-being and personal growth of the students we serve.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide individual and group counselling sessions to children and adolescents, addressing their emotional, psychological, and social needs.
- Create and identify effective group therapy modules to address specific issues faced by students, ensuring sessions are engaging and beneficial.
- Prepare detailed reports of group therapy modules, documenting progress and outcomes to evaluate the effectiveness of counselling interventions.
- Offer crisis counselling and utilize a trauma-informed approach when required to support students facing challenging situations or trauma.
- Conduct regular visits to various project locations within Dehradun to identify students in need of counselling and provide timely support.
- Collaborate closely with project leaders to assess the progress and well-being of individual cases, providing regular updates and recommendations for the best course of action.
- Work in collaboration with other stakeholders, including teachers, parents, and community partners, to facilitate training, assessment, diagnosis, and referrals as needed.

**Qualifications**:

- Master's degree in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Relevant experience in counselling, with a focus on children and adolescents.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Empathetic and compassionate approach to counselling.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention and trauma-informed practices.

**Salary**: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
