CNC programmers must be able to read engineering drawings, blueprints, and 3D models to understand the specifications of the part to be produced. They translate these into machine code.
- Understand tolerances, material specifications, and other key details from the drawings.
- For more complex jobs, programmers may use specialized software (such as CAD/CAM software) to generate programs automatically or help optimize tool paths.
- Determine the correct cutting tools, fixtures, and materials for each job.
- Program the tool changes and sequences of operations to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
- Load and set up the CNC machine, including installing and calibrating tools, setting up the workpiece, and ensuring the machine is running smoothly.
- Adjust machine settings, such as speed, feed rates, and tool offsets, based on material type and specifications.
- Work closely with machinists, engineers, and other team members to ensure that designs can be feasibly manufactured.
- Discuss any design or production issues with the engineering team to find solutions before full-scale production begins.
- Knowledge of CNC machines, programming languages SIEME
- Ability to ensure that parts are produced precisely according to specifications.
