**Job Description: Public Health Internship**

**Project Title**: _Impact of Heat on the Health of Women in India _

**Position: Public Health Intern**

**Location: Chennai (with Travel to study locations)**

**Duration: 5 months**

**About the Project**:
This study aims to assess the physical, mental, and socioeconomic impacts of heat stress on women in

India. The findings will contribute to evidence-based recommendations for policies and interventions

to mitigate heat-related challenges and improve resilience among vulnerable populations.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Assist in data collection through structured surveys and focus group discussions in selected

states.
- Support the development, translation, and validation of data collection tools, including

questionnaires and consent forms.
- Conduct literature reviews on heat stress and its impacts on health, particularly among

women.
- Coordinate with field teams to ensure smooth data collection and address any operational

challenges.
- Monitor real-time data entry using an online platform and conduct preliminary data

cleaning.
- Contribute to data analysis and the preparation of project reports, presentations, and policy

briefs.
- Engage with local stakeholders, including health workers, to facilitate field activities.

**Qualifications**:

- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in **Public Health**, **Epidemiology**, **Social**

**Sciences, or a related field.**
- Strong interest in climate change, gender health disparities, or public health research.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in SPSS and experience in data analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with data collection platforms (e.g.,

epicollect) is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and adapt to fieldwork conditions.

**Preferred Skills**:

- Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
- Experience in conducting community-based studies or working with vulnerable populations.
- Familiarity with local languages (Hindi, Telugu, Kanada, Marathi ) is an advantage.
