**Job Title : Lab Assistant**

**Location Kothrud, Pune**

**Reporting Authority HOD**

**2. Job Purpose**
- Ensure cleaning and maintenance of Lab and assist the Students as and when required during the procedures

**3. Key Accountability**

- Responsible to improve Lab setup / maintenance

**LABORATORY PREPARATIONS FOR CONDUCTING PRACTICALS**
- To submit requirement of chemicals, galsswares, labwares to store as per the requirement of practicals
- To collect chemicals, galsswares, labwares from store as per the requirement of practicals
- To ensure availability of chemicals, glasswares and labwares required for practicals
- To ensure working of Instruments/Equipments required for practicals
- To prepare reagents for practicals
- To perform demonstration practicals to standardize the procedure of experiment
- To ensure availability of LPG, water and electricity
- To assist faculty for smooth conduct of practical examination

**ASSIST AND SUPERVISE STUDENTS**
- To ensure students seat in the laboratory in time and as per the required arrangements
- To ensure that students will enter in the laboratory with all necessary requirements
- To issue of chemicals, glasswares, labwares and Instrument/Equipment to students
- To help students for arranging/handling assembly or Instrument/Equipment
- To help students for research projects
- To monitor the student and ensure that they are performing experiment as per standard procedures
- To monitor the student and enter if any breakage by them in the breakage register

**LABORATORY MAINTENANCE**
- Proper storage and arrangement of chemicals, glasswares, labwares and Instruments
- Inventry control of Chemicals, glasswares and labwares
- Routine maintenance of Instruments/Equipments (Log books, Service books, SOPs, maintenance record)
- To calibrate instruments and ensure their servicing as per requirements
- To display Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) of Instruments/Equipments
- To ensure proper LPG gas, water and electricity supply
- To obtain training required for maintenance of instruments
- To ensure proper labelling on chemical containers

**LABORATORY DOCUMENTATION**
- To maintain issue, stock and breakage record of chemicals, glassware and labwares
- To maintain dead stock record for Instruments/Equipments
- To maintain laboratory cleaning record
- To Maintain Maintenance/Breakdown and Movement record of Instruments/Equipments
- To maintain file of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) of Instruments/Equipments
- To maintain log book for Instruments/Equipments
- To maintain indent book for issue of chemicals, glasswares and labwares
- To verify the available stock of chemicals, glasswares, labwares and Instruments in the laboratory
- To maintain records of any communication related to laboratory
- To maintain safety audit file
- Any other laboratory related documentation and follow-up documentation

**SAFETY IN LABORATORY**
- To ensure working status of gas pipeline, Fire extinguisher, fume cupboard, water and electricity supply as per standard guidelines
- To ensure careful handling of hazardous/fuming/harmful chemicals by students
- To ensure limited stock and proper storage of hazardous, flammable chemicals
- To inform students about safe use of chemicals and Instruments/Equipments

**MISCELLANEOUS WORK**
- To complete the task assigned by higher authorities like work related to Programme or events, Admission process, students activities, inspections by regulatory bodies etc
- Invigilations during sessional and end term theory examinations

**DEPARTMENTAL LIBRARY DOCUMENTATION**
- To maintain issue, stock and utilization records of books
- Any other work assigned by higher authorities related to departmental library and related documentation

**Experience & Education**
- M.Sc. Chemistry having 2 to 5 years of experience in the same field.
