Profile introduction

As an Academic Counselor, you will play a critical role in guiding students through their academic journey, providing support, advice, and resources to help them achieve their educational goals. You will serve as a mentor and advocate for students, assisting them in academic planning, course selection, and career development. This position requires a strong understanding of educational pathways, excellent communication skills, and a passion for helping students succeed academically and personally.

**Responsibilities**:

- **Student Advising and Support**:

- Provide academic counseling and guidance to students on matters related to course selection, degree requirements, academic policies, and graduation planning.
- Assist students in developing personalized academic plans that align with their interests, goals, and career aspirations.
- Offer support and encouragement to students facing academic challenges, helping them identify strategies for improvement and success.
- **Educational Planning and Goal Setting**:

- Collaborate with students to set realistic academic and career goals, and develop action plans to achieve them.
- Monitor students' progress towards their academic goals and provide ongoing support and feedback as needed.
- Assist students in exploring educational pathways, including transfer opportunities, dual enrollment programs, and academic enrichment activities.
- **Resource Referral and Advocacy**:

- Connect students with relevant campus resources and support services, such as tutoring, academic workshops, counseling services, and career development programs.
- Advocate for students' needs and interests within the institution, working closely with faculty, staff, and administrators to address academic concerns and promote student success.
- **Documentation and Record-Keeping**:

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student interactions, including advising sessions, academic plans, and progress reports.
- Prepare reports and summaries on student outcomes, retention rates, and other relevant metrics for institutional assessment and planning purposes.
- **Professional Development**:

- Stay informed about current trends and best practices in academic advising, student development, and higher education policy.
- Participate in professional development activities, workshops, and conferences to enhance counseling skills and knowledge.

**Requirements**:

- Master's degree in Counseling, Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or a related field.
- Previous experience in academic advising, counseling, or student support services, preferably in a higher education setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of academic policies, curriculum requirements, and educational resources.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with student information systems and advising software is a plus.

**Salary**: ₹10,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
