- Maintaining fire safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers and alarm systems
- Advising on fire safety measures during the design and construction of new buildings
- Collaborating with fire departments and other emergency services during emergencies
- Developing emergency evacuation plans and procedures
- Keeping abreast of latest fire safety regulations and research
