**Job Title**: Computer Hardware Technician

A **Computer Hardware Technician** is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing computer hardware systems. This role involves working with a variety of hardware components, including motherboards, processors, hard drives, RAM, and networking equipment. A key part of the job also involves diagnosing issues with computer systems and providing solutions to ensure optimal performance. The technician must have a strong understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, and networking principles.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Computer Hardware Maintenance and Repair**:

- Diagnose and repair computer hardware, including desktops, laptops, and servers.
- Replace faulty components such as hard drives, RAM, motherboards, and power supplies.
- Install new computer hardware and ensure compatibility with the existing system.
- Perform routine hardware upgrades and system checks.
- **Network Setup and Support**:

- Install and configure network hardware such as routers, switches, and wireless access points.
- Troubleshoot and resolve networking issues, including connectivity problems and hardware malfunctions.
- Ensure the proper functioning of local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and wireless networks.
- Monitor network performance and provide recommendations for optimization.
- **System Testing and Optimization**:

- Run diagnostic tests on computer hardware and networks to identify potential issues.
- Troubleshoot and repair any system issues to ensure smooth operation.
- Optimize system performance through hardware upgrades or configuration changes.
- **Technical Support**:

- Provide technical support to end-users for hardware and network-related issues.
- Assist in the setup and configuration of new computer systems for users.
- Train users on the proper use of hardware and network systems.
- **Documentation and Reporting**:

- Maintain detailed records of repairs, upgrades, and installations.
- Create and update documentation for network configurations, hardware setups, and troubleshooting procedures.
- **Security and Compliance**:

- Ensure hardware and network systems comply with industry security standards.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- **Technical Skills**:

- Strong understanding of computer hardware components (e.g., motherboards, CPUs, RAM, storage devices).
- Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting hardware issues.
- Familiarity with various operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS).
- Understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and hardware (routers, switches, firewalls).
- **Networking Knowledge**:

- Experience setting up and managing network configurations.
- Familiarity with networking devices and tools such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Ability to troubleshoot network issues and ensure connectivity.
- **Problem-Solving**:

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure to meet deadlines.
- **Communication Skills**:

- Good verbal and written communication skills to provide support and documentation.
- Ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical users.
- **Certifications (optional but preferred)**:

- CompTIA A+ Certification (for general hardware knowledge).
- CompTIA Network+ (for network support skills).
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent.

**Education and Experience**:

- **Education**: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A degree or diploma in computer science, information technology, or a related field is preferred.
- **Experience**: Prior experience in a technical support role or hands-on experience with computer hardware and networks is beneficial.
