Our Lucknow facility is at the forefront of this mission, and we are committed to not only protecting the environment but also ensuring the health and safety of our entire workforce. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced **Safety Officer** to champion our safety culture and lead all health and safety initiatives at our plant. Position Summary Key Responsibilities - **Safety Program Development & Implementation**: - Design and execute comprehensive HSE policies and procedures that comply with all local, state, and national regulations, including those set by the Factories Act and other relevant government bodies. - Develop and manage the annual safety plan, setting clear objectives, targets, and timelines for safety improvements. - Conduct **Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)** and **Risk Assessments** for all operational processes, identifying potential hazards and implementing effective control measures. - **Training and Communication**: - Develop and deliver mandatory safety training programs, including new employee orientation, on-the-job training, and specialized sessions on topics such as **Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)** procedures, confined space entry, forklift operation, and fire safety. - Lead daily or weekly "toolbox talks" with different teams to discuss specific safety concerns and best practices relevant to their tasks. - Create and maintain safety signage, posters, and communication materials throughout the facility to reinforce safety messages. - **Inspections and Audits**: - Perform regular, scheduled, and unscheduled safety inspections and audits of the entire facility, including equipment, machinery, and work areas, to identify and rectify non-compliance issues. - Ensure that all employees and contractors consistently use appropriate **Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)**, such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots. - Oversee the proper functioning and maintenance of fire suppression systems, emergency eyewash stations, and other safety equipment. - **Incident Management & Reporting**: - Act as the lead investigator for all workplace incidents, accidents, near-misses, and occupational illnesses. - Utilize root cause analysis techniques to determine the factors contributing to an incident. - Prepare detailed incident reports for management and, when necessary, regulatory agencies. Maintain a thorough log of all incidents and actions taken. - **Emergency Preparedness**: - Develop and regularly update the facility's **Emergency Response Plan**, including procedures for fire, chemical spills, and medical emergencies. - Coordinate and conduct mock emergency drills (e.g., fire drills) to ensure all employees are familiar with evacuation routes and procedures. - Manage the first-aid and medical facilities on-site, ensuring that they are well-stocked and accessible. - **Regulatory Compliance & Documentation**: - Serve as the company's representative during external safety audits by regulatory bodies. - Maintain meticulous records of all safety-related activities, including training records, inspection checklists, incident reports, and safety committee meeting minutes. - Ensure all safety-related permits and licenses are current and compliant. Qualifications and Requirements - **Education**: A Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. A government-recognized diploma in Industrial Safety (e.g., from a reputable institution like the Regional Labour Institute) is highly preferred. - **Certifications**: Professional certifications such as **NEBOSH** or an equivalent are a significant advantage. - **Experience**: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Safety Officer or in a similar HSE role, with a strong preference for experience in a manufacturing, processing, or waste management environment. - **Technical Skills**: - Expertise in Indian safety legislation and standards, including the Factories Act, 1948. - Proven ability to conduct risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations. - Knowledge of waste management processes and associated hazards (e.g., biological, chemical, and physical hazards). - **Soft Skills**: - Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and train people at all levels of the organization. - Strong leadership qualities and the ability to work independently. - Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills. - Proactive, vigilant, and unwavering in a commitment to safety.
