- Planning and implementing strategiesSocial media managers create and implement strategies to increase brand awareness, improve marketing efforts, and increase sales. These strategies can include developing strategies to increase followers, creating and overseeing social campaigns, and planning digital campaigns.
- Creating contentSocial media managers create and oversee social campaigns, produce content, and post content across social media accounts. They may also develop compelling content or get it developed.
- Analyzing dataSocial media managers analyze engagement data, review analytics, and analyze running campaigns. They use reporting and analytics tools to see what posts did best, the demographics, and what times/days work best for posting.
- Communicating with stakeholdersSocial media managers communicate with key stakeholders in a company. They also engage with customers on different channels and deal with customers' enquiries.

- Being on top of the latest social media trends
- Administrative and team development tasks
- Career planning
