**Job Title: Designer for Stamping Parts and Press Tools**

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Design of Press Tools and Dies**:

- Design press tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures for metal stamping processes, ensuring high accuracy and precision.
- Develop detailed CAD models and engineering drawings for tooling components.
- Specify material types, tolerances, and surface finishes for tooling and metal parts.
- **Design of Stamped Parts**:

- Create designs for sheet metal stamping parts, ensuring they meet functional and dimensional specifications.
- Analyze part requirements and develop cost-effective solutions that optimize material usage and production processes.
- Work closely with clients or internal teams to ensure designs meet technical specifications and functional requirements.
- **Tooling and Process Development**:

- Develop tooling concepts for the efficient production of stamped metal components.
- Simulate and analyze the forming process (e.g., stamping, deep drawing, punching) using CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) tools to predict outcomes like material flow, thinning, and stress distribution.
- Ensure the manufacturability of designs by considering factors such as material properties, sheet thickness, and press capacity.
- **Design for Manufacturability (DFM)**:

- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize the design of stamped parts and tools for ease of manufacturing, reducing costs, and increasing production efficiency.
- Make design adjustments based on feedback from the production process to enhance tool life and minimize wear and tear.
- **Tooling Maintenance and Modifications**:

- Analyze wear and failure modes of tools and dies, recommending or designing modifications for improvement.
- Work on retooling and adjusting designs based on tool wear or production challenges to maintain high-quality output.
- **Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams**:

- Work closely with production engineers, quality teams, and suppliers to ensure successful implementation of designs into production.
- Collaborate with customers to meet specific design requirements, tolerances, and quality standards.
- Provide technical support to toolmakers and machine operators during the tool development phase.
- **Prototyping and Testing**:

- Oversee the production of prototypes and sample parts, evaluating their performance, fit, and functionality.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for issues that arise during the prototyping or initial production runs, ensuring quick resolution of problems.
- **Documentation and Standards Compliance**:

- Create and maintain detailed design documentation, including CAD models, 2D drawings, and tool manuals.
- Ensure all designs comply with industry standards and regulations (ISO, ANSI, DIN, etc.) related to stamping parts and press tools.
- Update design revisions and maintain records of design changes and improvements.
