College to Career Team

**Overview**

The quality of school education available to students from low-income communities across India is abysmal. Their chances of getting admitted to a college or building a career are much lower than their high-income peers, condemning them to a life without voice or choice. iTeach was born to declare war on this status quo and create a level playing field for ALL children. **We do this in Pune and Navi Mumbai by co-creating contextual school models with Municipal Corporations.**

We run 12 free and high-impact secondary schools and a college-to-career(C2C) program for the most disadvantaged students. In 2024, with a staff of 300 members across 12 schools, we will serve 4500 students and 3000 alumni - giving students a fighting chance at college, career, and citizenship. We aim to grow to 30 schools and 10,000 students over the next five years.

**About College to Career Program**

At iTeach we strongly believe student support cannot stop at Grade 10. Our College to Career Wing is committed to supporting alumni till they get their first job, through their junior college and graduation.

Only 10% of Indian students successfully make it ‘Through College’ every year, for students from under-resourced households, the odds are even lower The temptation to start working at an early age, pressure to get married, financial constraints, academic disinvestment, and other reasons put alumni at a huge risk of dropping out post school. C2C exists to shatter this norm and provide the academic, financial, and social support needed to ensure 100% of iTeach alumni make it ‘To and Through College’, towards employment aligned with their vision.

**Responsibilities**:
There are three key parts to this role - to build strong and lasting partnerships with relevant stakeholders (high-impact colleges, scholarship providers, program partners, etc), being a ‘Through College Advisor’ to a subset of 100 alumni providing one-to-one mentoring and building a community of support amongst the alumni.

**I. Partnerships Management**

Ensuring iTeach has strong partnerships for alumni in the following four areas:

- _
Scholarships_- Building a network of reliable scholarship partners to provide financial support to alumni.
- _ Life Skill Opportunities_- Sourcing rigorous internships, part-time jobs, volunteering opportunities, or skill development courses aimed at intentionally building 21st-century skills (4Cs) during their college life.
- _ College Outreach_- Partnering with colleges in the area to support iTeach alums with resources and fee waivers.
- _ Volunteer Engagement_- Finding and managing the best minds and hearts to mentor and coach our alumni in exciting projects ranging from SAT exam readiness to weekly peer study groups, reading clubs, and special sharing circles for female alumni

**II. Being a ‘Through College Advisor’**

Providing one-to-one mentoring support to a group of 100 alumni to:

- Coach them to strategically leverage their strengths and work on their areas of development in college, to maximize their full potential and enable them to achieve their vision.
- Enable them to most effectively handle the Academic, Financial, and Social challenges of college life.
- Counseling alums to take right fit opportunities, and right fit courses during the college journey

**III. Developing a community of support**

Conducting monthly engagement activities like sharing circles, field trips, and sports matches towards creating a community of support that each alum contributes to and can access.

**Prerequisites**
- Required: Bachelor’s degree with strong performance
- Required: Flexibility to travel across Navi Mumbai, Panvel, and Mumbai to visit colleges, partners
- Required: Working on Saturdays and Sundays and taking weekly off during the week - as most alums can be met over the weekend
- Preferred: Experience in a school system/education organization
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
