Trainer for Tape Drive

Overview:
We are an established IT hardware company based in Australia, currently seeking a Tape Drive Repair Technician / Trainer with proven hands-on experience in physically repairing enterprise-grade tape drives. This role involves not only performing advanced diagnostics and hardware repairs but also training and mentoring our local engineering team to develop their capabilities in this specialized area.

**Job Description**:
Perform extensive physical repairs on enterprise tape drives (HP, IBM, Oracle, Quantum, etc.)
Replace internal components such as read/write heads, motors, and mechanical parts
Conduct manual cleaning and servicing of drives
Assist with diagnostics and troubleshooting (e.g., read/write errors, load failures)
Carry out ongoing testing, maintenance, and repair of tape drives and libraries in our warehouse
Identify faults and refurbish defective drives
Provide step-by-step training (virtually or on-site) to local engineers in Australia
Clearly document processes, repairs, and findings for each unit tested

**Requirements**:
Strong hands-on experience with IBM tape drives and tape libraries, particularly LTO5, LTO6, and LTO7
Knowledge of proper head cleaning techniques and ESD-safe handling practices
Ability to identify common failure points in IBM tape drives
Experience in swapping read/write heads and accurately reassembling drives
High attention to detail and ability to work independently.
