The IMS and Mobile team is responsible for designing the Voice network that supports over 30 million users across 2G, 3G, 4G, WiFi & Fixed telephony.
The BT Mobile network is currently the best performing network in the UK, according to external benchmarking studies.
This role has the opportunity to work across multiple technologies, from the newest IMS innovations to circuit switched technology and work to deliver and maintain services across fixed and mobile for both Consumer and Enterprise Customer Facing Units.
As a Network Designer in the team you will be engaged in service and platform design and capacity activities, leading or supporting project work and will have the opportunity to help shape the strategic direction of the Voice Network through interactions with Senior Designers, Specialists and the Architecture and Operations community

**What you’ll be doing**:

- Responsible for detailed design output at a platform and service level
- Producing quality high level and low level design documentation
- Representing the team on project engagements and contributing from requirements gathering right through to launch
- Communicating back into the team summaries of the project scope and requirements
- Designing of scalable solutions with the highest customer experience standards.
- Monitor the capacity of our platforms and interfaces and plan upgrades, configuration changes or migration activities as needed
- Working closely with test and operations and other stakeholders across technology to ensure best stability of our solutions
- Providing technical expertise and consultancy to the team and beyond
- Support the wider team with core design activities as needed

**We'll also need to see these on your CV**:

- Great communicator capable of engaging and influencing up to Senior Design and Specialist levels
- Strong experience of producing great documention of complex solutions
- Excellent troubleshooting and low level diagnostic abilty
- Detailed understanding of voice core networks as well as wider understanding of mobile and BT core networks and services
- Analytical thinking with the ability analyse and interpret data, network statistics
- Strong commercial mindset and an ability to identify opportunities for efficiency and best practice.

**Desirable**
- Good knowledge & experience of IMS technologies and its associated Voice services VoLTE, VoWiFi, Interconnect, Fixed and 5G.
- Good knowledge & experience in API Design and Development
- Basic mature knowledge & experience of Telecom voice solutions based on Virtualised technology VMWare and COTS
- Basic mature knowledge & experience of Telecom voice solutions based on Private or Public Cloud solutions using Containerisation, Kubernetes, LINUX, OpenStack software
- Good practical knowledge & experience of SIP,HTTP, IP Networking, Diameter, DNS, BICC, ISUP, CAP, INAP protocols
- Basic practical experience of Subscriber Provisioning processes and Systems.
- Experience in Telecoms Platform and Software Security skills.

**MANDATORY**
- Demonstrable experience in network design roles
- Communicating technical details to varied audiences up to Senior Manager level
- Working with multiple teams and vendors to drive network customisations to enhance features and functionality
- Collaborating positively with others in and outside BT to drive best solutions and practices

**PREFERRED**
- Member of a professional body e.g. Institution of Engineering and Technology
- Security Clearance and experience of working with Regulatory Compliance and Government Liaison areas.
