The IT Support Technician will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting hardware and network systems in retail showrooms. This role ensures the availability and reliability of technology infrastructure to support business operations, enhance customer experiences, and maximize showroom efficiency.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Hardware Support**:
- Install, configure, and maintain IT hardware, including computers, POS systems, printers, tablets, and other retail technology devices.
- Perform routine hardware inspections and maintenance to ensure equipment is in good working condition.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware malfunctions, such as system failures, peripheral issues, or device connectivity problems.
- Provide technical support for all hardware-related issues raised by showroom staff.
- **Network Support**:
- Monitor and maintain local area networks (LAN), Wi-Fi networks, and other communication systems in the showroom.
- Ensure secure and reliable internet connectivity for all devices, including POS systems and employee workstations.
- Perform network troubleshooting, addressing issues such as slow speeds, connectivity drops, or network outages.
- Assist in setting up network configurations, routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Ensure network security, including the use of appropriate security measures like VPNs and firewalls.
- **Software & Systems Support**:
- Provide support for systems integration between hardware devices and retail management systems.
- **Technical Support & Troubleshooting**:
- Provide onsite and remote technical support to showroom staff for IT-related issues.
- Respond to service tickets and resolve technical problems in a timely manner.
- Work with external vendors or third-party support when needed to repair or replace malfunctioning equipment.
- **Documentation & Reporting**:
- Maintain records of hardware and network configurations, software licenses, and system updates.
- Document troubleshooting procedures, solutions, and best practices for future reference.
- Generate reports on hardware performance, network usage, and system health.
- Collaborate with the showroom management team to address any IT-related challenges affecting showroom operations.
- Provide training and support to retail staff on how to effectively use IT equipment and troubleshoot minor technical issues.
**Qualifications**:
- Proven experience in IT support, hardware management, and network troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge of retail technologies such as POS systems, barcode scanners, and other hardware devices.
- Experience with networking, including setting up and maintaining wired and wireless networks (routers, switches, firewalls).
- Familiarity with basic cybersecurity practices and tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot hardware and network issues efficiently.
- Strong communication skills and ability to train non-technical users.
- Certification (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+) or relevant education in IT is a plus.
**Preferred Skills**:
- Experience working in retail environments or with retail-specific technologies.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
**Working Conditions**:
- Full-time, on-site role in retail showrooms.
- Occasional weekend or after-hours support may be required depending on showroom operations and IT emergencies.
