Should Costing Expert - Consumer Products JOB OVERVIEW - We are seeking a Should Costing Expert with 6-12 years of experience in cost analysis and strategic sourcing for Consumer Products such as Packaging Items (corrugated, flexible, etc.), Food Products, etc. In this role, you will drive cost optimization initiatives by developing detailed should-cost models that integrate sustainable sourcing, global demonstrate proficiency in cost modelling software as well as the ability to develop robust cost estimates from scratch using MS Excel. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Should Costing Analysis: - Develop Detailed Cost Models: Create and maintain should-cost models for consumer products, breaking down all cost components (materials, conversion, labor, overhead, packaging, logistics, duty & tariff) to establish accurate cost benchmarks. Prepare cost models as per various locations/regions. - Identify Cost Drivers: Analyze and identify key cost drivers and variances by comparing actual supplier costs to should-cost estimates, pinpointing inefficiencies and opportunities for cost reduction. - Advanced Cost Modeling: Utilize cost modeling tools and methodologies to simulate manufacturing processes and material costs, ensuring data-driven and precise cost estimates. - Excel-Based Costing: Independently develop comprehensive should-cost analyses from scratch using MS Excel without reliance on specialized costing software, demonstrating strong analytical and spreadsheet skills. - Sustainable Costing Integration: Incorporate sustainable sourcing and manufacturing considerations into cost models, evaluating the cost impact of eco - friendly materials and processes. - Cross-Functional Collaboration: Prepare costing models as per client’s requirement and make necessary changes with their inputs Procurement & Supply Chain Collaboration - Supply Chain Alignment: Work closely with supply chain teams to ensure cost models reflect real-world factors such as logistics, batch sizes, and lead times. Financial Impact & Reporting - Management Reporting: Prepare detailed cost breakdown reports and presentations for senior management to support strategic decision-making. Continuous Improvement - Refine Methodologies: Continuously update and improve cost modeling methods by incorporating new data, market trends, and feedback from cross-functional teams. - Industry Best Practices: Stay current with industry innovations, materials trends, and technological advancements in cost engineering, integrating these best practices into existing costing frameworks. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE - Experience: 6-12 years of experience in should-cost analysis, cost engineering, or strategic procurement within the consumer products industry (e.g., Packaging Items [corrugated, flexible, etc.], Food Products, etc.). - Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field; an advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CPSM, CPIM) are a plus. - Cost Modeling Software & Excel Proficiency: Expertise in using specialized costing software and the ability to independently develop comprehensive should-cost models from scratch using MS Excel. - Global Sourcing Experience: In-depth knowledge of international procurement, cost structures, and market trends, with experience working with global suppliers. - Analytical & Communication Skills: Exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex cost data in a clear and actionable manner. - Collaborative Approach: Strong teamwork, negotiation, and relationship-building skills to drive collaborative cost improvements across functions. - Flexible Working Approach: Flexible at times to work in client’s time zone, whenever required.
