A coding specialist is responsible for correctly coding healthcare claims in order to obtain reimbursement

from insurance companies and patients by translating medical terminology into unique professional codes for medical personnel and insurance companies to understand and interpret.

**Specialty**:
E&M and Urgent Care coder with experience in Internal Medicine/ Primary Care/Urgent Care/Clinical Procedures and Lab

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
1. Review medical records and decipher if they are accurate and complete, accurate, and in support of patient risk

adjustment score accuracy.

2. Collect health information as documented by medical specialists and code it appropriately.

3. Educate providers and their staff in Medicare coding guidelines, with a special focus on revenue enhancement

opportunities.

4. Consult medical specialists for further clarification and understanding of items on patient charts to avoid any

misinterpretations.

5. Ensure that codes tally with doctor’s diagnosis. Oversee medical records and correct incomplete or incorrect

codes (CPT and ICD) for both active and previous conditions.

6. Ascertain that all specialist and hospital consults and lab, radiology, and pathology reports are properly

reviewed. Audit documentation includes confirming each condition or screening that is marked as assessed.

7. Evaluate and re-file appeals of patient claims that were denied.

8. Be updated about new coding rules as codes change from time to time

9. Maintain accuracy and volume goals.

10. Collect and distribute coding related information and billing issues.

11. Provide accurate answers to queries on coding. Communicate with providers to ensure that correct codes are

chosen and add required update.

4. Exhibit sound knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy

8. Follows policies and procedures and completes tasks correctly and on time

9. Can work independently if needed

10. Knowledgeable about government regulations

**Qualifications**:
1. Coding certification from either AAPC or AHIMA in either hospital or physician coding

2. Preferably 2+ years on the job experience

3. Able to calculate figures and amounts.

4. Ability to solve problems

5. Computer skills

6. Ability to read, speak and understand English

**Salary**: ₹40,000.00 - ₹80,000.00 per month
