Site Supervisor

The Site Supervisor in a piping company is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of piping construction projects. They ensure that all piping systems are installed correctly, safely, and according to the project specifications, schedule, and quality standards. The role involves coordinating with workers, engineers, and contractors, ensuring that the work complies with safety regulations, and managing the progress of the construction site.

Key Responsibilities:

- **Supervision of On-Site Activities**:

- Supervise and coordinate all site activities related to the installation, fabrication, and testing of piping systems.
- Ensure work is being performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, design documents, and safety regulations.
- Oversee the work of subcontractors, suppliers, and laborers, ensuring high standards of workmanship.
- **Quality Control**:

- Monitor the quality of work being performed on-site, ensuring that the piping system is installed according to design specifications and industry standards.
- Conduct inspections to ensure that the installation is completed with mínimal rework and within the planned quality parameters.
- Review and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations on-site.
- **Safety Management**:

- Implement and enforce strict safety protocols on-site to prevent accidents and hazards during construction.
- Ensure all workers use the appropriate safety gear and follow safety procedures.
- Conduct regular safety audits and toolbox talks to ensure awareness of potential risks and hazards.
- **Scheduling & Coordination**:

- Work with project managers and engineers to develop daily or weekly schedules for site activities.
- Coordinate and allocate resources (personnel, equipment, and materials) to ensure smooth operations.
- Communicate and resolve any delays or issues that arise during the construction process.
- **Documentation & Reporting**:

- Maintain accurate records of the work performed, including daily progress reports, material usage, and workforce attendance.
- Report any issues or delays to the Project Manager or senior management promptly.
- Ensure that all required documentation, such as permits, certifications, and inspections, is completed and stored.
- **Material & Equipment Management**:

- Ensure that all materials and equipment needed for the project are available on-site and stored properly.
- Verify that materials meet the required quality standards and quantities.
- Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
- **Communication & Collaboration**:

- Maintain effective communication with all team members, contractors, and stakeholders on-site.
- Liaise with engineers to resolve technical issues or clarify design specifications as necessary.
- Facilitate coordination between different departments (e.g., safety, procurement, engineering) to ensure smooth project execution.
- **Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving**:

- Resolve any technical, logístical, or human resource challenges that arise during the construction phase.
- Troubleshoot on-site issues quickly and ensure mínimal disruption to the project’s progress.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

- **Educational Requirements**:

- A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or a related Engineering field.
- Additional certifications in safety (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) are advantageous.
- **Experience**:

- At least 3-5 years of experience as a Site Supervisor or in a similar role, preferably in piping, construction, or oil & gas projects.
- Hands-on experience with piping systems, including installation, welding, and testing.
- Knowledge of construction processes, safety standards, and quality control techniques.
- **Technical Skills**:

- Familiarity with piping design codes, materials, and standards (e.g., ASME, ASTM, API).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and schematics.
- Knowledge of site-specific software tools, such as MS Excel or other project management tools, is a plus.
- **Soft Skills**:

- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Clear communication skills to coordinate with a diverse team.
