**Job Summary**: The Student Counselor is responsible for providing academic, career, and emotional counseling to students. The role involves developing programs and interventions to support student well-being, addressing personal and social issues, and fostering a positive and inclusive school environment.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Individual Counseling**:

- Provide one-on-one counseling sessions to students dealing with academic, emotional, or social issues.
- Assist students in setting and achieving academic and career goals.
- Offer support and guidance to students experiencing personal challenges or mental health concerns.
- **Group Counseling and Workshops**:

- Conduct group counseling sessions on topics such as stress management, peer relationships, and study skills.
- Organize and lead workshops on topics relevant to student development and well-being.
- **Academic Support**:

- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to identify students who may need additional support.
- Assist students with academic planning and course selection.
- Monitor students' academic progress and intervene when necessary to address issues impacting their performance.
- **Crisis Intervention**:

- Provide immediate support and intervention in crisis situations, such as instances of bullying, family issues, or mental health emergencies.
- Develop and implement crisis management plans in collaboration with school staff and external agencies.
- **Program Development**:

- Design and implement programs to address common issues such as substance abuse, bullying prevention, and social skills development.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling programs and make improvements as needed.
- **Collaboration and Advocacy**:

- Work closely with teachers, parents, and administrators to advocate for students' needs and ensure a supportive learning environment.
- Facilitate communication between students and their families to address concerns and support student success.
- **Record Keeping and Reporting**:

- Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions, interventions, and student progress.
- Prepare reports and documentation for school administration and external agencies as required.
- **Professional Development**:

- Stay current with best practices, trends, and research in student counseling and mental health.
- Attend professional development workshops and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.

**Qualifications**:

- Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Valid state certification or licensure as a school counselor or counselor (if applicable).
- Previous experience in a counseling role, preferably within an educational setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and school staff.
- Demonstrated understanding of child and adolescent development, mental health issues, and academic planning.

**Preferred Skills**:

- Experience with crisis intervention and management.
- Knowledge of current educational trends and practices.
- Ability to create and implement effective counseling programs and workshops.

**Work Environment**:

- Office environment within a educational institution.
- May require occasional travel for professional development or meetings.
