**Overview about the position**

The Editor-in-Chief will lead an editorial team in audience-driven content creation across multiple formats that deliver business goals and bring the Spiceworks News & Insights brand to life. This role will craft and oversee the Spiceworks News & Insights editorial activities - ensuring our technology content across all channels exhibits editorial excellence, showcases our impact in technology and serves the unique needs of IT decision-makers with unique insights and engage them in an action-oriented way.

**What does the role look like?**
- Developing the editorial strategy, overarching narrative and leading its implementation through content planning, development and cross-organizational/functional projects
- Leading Spiceworks News & Insights editorial calendar, editorial management process and annual content production and plan
- Managing an extended external team of freelancers responsible for content writing and handling billing and budgeting; removing any roadblocks. In addition, build and grow the freelancer bench and manage the editorial budget
- Providing leadership and expertise for custom content to the Sales Team; identify clients’ needs, recommend topics and deliverables based on their messaging and designing editorial assets that meet clients' needs
- Measure, optimize and report to Sr. Director, Audience Development about the success of editorial content on a regular/monthly cadence
- Lead and establish processes within the team - including, content planning, news curation, fact-checking, proofing and quality control, etc. Ensure all-around consistency in terms of style, images and editorial tone
- Developing key performance indicators (KPIs) for direct reports to determine the success of content and continuously strengthen quality and performance
- Develop and expand the audience reach/engagement and growth with a full funnel content strategy
- Lead and enhance Spiceworks News & Insights video strategy and ensure videos resonate with our audience
- Senior-level professional with 10+ years of experience in content writing, strategy and development in, journalism, communications or a similar field
- Familiarity with SEO, and Google analytics/Tableau
- Familiarity with AP style guide
- Sharp editorial mindset that seeks to understand what audiences want and how to grow them.
- Keen interest in technology, a fascination with emerging tech and a commitment to learning and trend-spotting
- An effective leader with a love for coaching, mentoring, and team building and proven abilities to bring organizational values to life every day.
- Ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams and drive business outcomes

**Preferred skills**
- Editing, content writing in the business technology field, project management, Google Analytics/Tableau analytics, familiarity with MS Office & Google Workplace preferred

**Educational requirements**
- Master’s degree in Journalism or related field, or Bachelor’s degree with relevant work experience.
