**Job Description**:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Commissioning Editor to join our Special Issues as Books (SPIB) publishing programme team at New Delhi to work on a broad range of academic titles humanities, the social sciences and the sciences.

You will continue to grow the SPIB list by developing a strong commissioning strategy in line with overall team objectives, including developing an awareness of the academic and professional market and competitor strengths/weaknesses to take advantage of any gaps and opportunities in the market.

The role will involve working closely with the journals team. It will also involve liaison with editorial colleagues across the wider Humanities and Media Arts teams and other internal departments such as production, marketing, rights, and sales to champion our titles and ensure our publishing goals are met.

**What you'll be doing**:

- Meeting annual commissioning and revenue goals
- Working closely with an editorial assistant to ensure that manuscripts are submitted on time and handed over to production on schedule, and that publication dates are met;
- Responsible for creating own publishing list and commissioning edited books and monographs based on content from Taylor & Francis and Routledge journals, especially journal special issues
- Working closely with authors and journal editors to commission books that have an academic market and sales potential
- Collaborating with both books and journals editorial colleagues within the company on various aspects of the publication and post-publication process
- Working closely with series editors to build existing book series
- Working with sales and marketing teams to promote your list

**Qualifications**:
**What we're looking for**:

- For someone who can hit the ground running, and deliver targets in a time-bound manner.
- You'll be expected to work independently, while liaising effectively with team members globally;
- You'll have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be highly organized, detail-oriented, and have a financial focus and ability to budget and analyse financial data, as well as the ability to prioritize workload under pressure;
- Experience in academic publishing, negotiating contract terms and general publishing process is highly desirable;
