Job Summary:

Our Client is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Technical Specialist in Exhaust Systems to join their dynamic engineering team. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional with a strong mechanical engineering background and a proven track record in application and process engineering within a Tier 1 automotive exhaust manufacturing environment. This role will be crucial in providing technical expertise, optimizing manufacturing processes, managing new product development, and ensuring the highest quality standards for our exhaust system products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical expertise in the design, development, and application of exhaust systems for automotive applications. 

• Lead and contribute to the process engineering aspects of exhaust system manufacturing, including process optimization, tooling selection, and equipment validation for processes like Welding, Tube Bending, Forming, Leak Testing, and Painting. 

• Analyze and resolve technical issues related to exhaust system design, performance, and manufacturing processes. 

• Develop and implement best practices and standardized processes for exhaust system production. 

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, production, quality, and sales, to ensure project success and customer satisfaction. 

• Conduct feasibility studies and technical reviews for new product development and process improvements. 

• Stay abreast of the latest technological advancements and industry trends in exhaust systems and automotive manufacturing. 

• Contribute to the development and maintenance of technical documentation, including specifications, drawings, and process guidelines. 

• Support and manage Exhaust NPD (New Product Development) projects from concept to launch. 

• Possess knowledge of costing of exhaust components. 

• Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles in design and manufacturing. 

• Demonstrate knowledge of DVP (Design Validation Plan) and DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis). 

• Oversee and participate in testing and validation activities for exhaust systems. 

• Utilize CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) tools for analysis and optimization. 

• Identify and implement cost reduction and efficiency improvement initiatives in the manufacturing processes. 

• Participate in problem-solving activities and root cause analysis for manufacturing issues. 

• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and team members. 

• Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards and regulations.

Required Qualifications:

o Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. 

o Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in Application Engineering and Process Engineering within the automotive industry. 

o Mandatory: Proven experience working in a Tier 1 company specializing in the manufacturing of exhaust systems. 

o Strong understanding of exhaust system design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes, including Welding, Tube Bending, Forming, Leak Testing, and Painting. 

o Hands-on experience in managing Exhaust NPD projects. 

o Knowledge of exhaust component costing. 

o Proficient in the application of GD&T. 

o Familiarity with DVP, DFMEA, testing, and validation procedures. 

o Experience with CAE and CFD tools. 

o Experience with relevant quality standards and systems (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949). 

o Proficiency in using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA) and other relevant engineering tools. 

o Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills. 

o Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. 

o Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
