Position Overview:
The Head of Costing & Cost Forecasting in the oil and gas sector will be responsible for managing and optimizing cost structures while ensuring accurate financial forecasting aligned with the unique demands of the industry. The role requires a deep understanding of operational and project cost drivers, regulatory considerations, and market volatility inherent to the oil and gas sector. This leader will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient cost management and provide strategic insights for key business decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Management & Control:
Develop and implement cost management strategies for upstream, midstream, and downstream operations.
Monitor project and operational costs, ensuring adherence to budgets.
Analyze cost drivers specific to exploration, production, refining, and distribution activities.
Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives to enhance profitability.
Forecasting & Budgeting:
Lead the preparation of cost forecasts and budgets for both CAPEX and OPEX.
Provide accurate financial models accounting for industry risks, including fluctuating oil prices, currency exchange rates, and geopolitical factors.
Support long-term business planning with data-driven insights and scenarios.
Process Improvement:
Establish robust systems and methodologies for cost allocation and tracking across diverse operations.
Optimize tools for financial modeling, forecasting, and real-time cost reporting.
Drive efficiency in procurement, inventory management, and project execution to minimize costs.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate with exploration, drilling, operations, procurement, and finance teams to align on cost strategies.
Provide periodic reports and forecasts to senior leadership and external stakeholders, including investors and regulatory bodies.
Regulatory Compliance & Reporting:
Ensure cost and financial practices comply with industry standards and local/international regulations.
Maintain transparent cost reporting for audits, joint venture partners, and government agencies.
Experience:
15+ years in cost management and forecasting within the oil and gas sector.
