Job Overview -

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented subject matter expert typically involving a combination of specialized knowledge of Indian languages and practical application in various contexts. Must have basic knowledge of computers and should be able to help with data validation and annotations. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and accuracy of annotated data, which is essential for developing robust AI models.


We are looking for linguistics experts for the any of the following languages :

  • Gujarati, Hindi, Marathi, Punjabi, Urdu
  • Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam
  • Bengali, Assamese, Oriya, Manipuri


Job Description -

1. Subject Matter Expertise:

  • Analysis and development of taxonomy, knowledge bases, grammar, and (optional) rules for programmatic weak supervision that will be used in our AI/Machine learning pipelines.
  • Providing guidance on language issues related to a specific domain
  • Advising on language-related decisions to enhance communication effectiveness and cultural sensitivity.

2.Analysis and Evaluation:

  • Analyzing language data, including syntax, semantics, phonetics, and pragmatics.
  • Evaluating language use in specific contexts such as written texts, spoken discourse, or digital communication.

3.Language Quality Assurance:

  • Ensuring accuracy and appropriateness in translations, transcriptions, or content localization.
  • Reviewing and providing feedback on language aspects of products, services, or educational materials.

4.Research and Development:

  • Perform original and novel research in computational linguistics that translates to outcomes that will be incorporated into our algorithms, & tools.

5.Training and Collaboration:

  • Training teams or stakeholders on language principles and best practices.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams including translators, content creators, and developers to achieve language objectives.

6.Documentation and Reporting:

  • Documenting findings, recommendations, and language guidelines.
  • Reporting on language metrics.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Advanced Degree in language: Typically, a Master’s or PhD in language or a related field. Postgraduate/PhD work in syntax, typology is a big plus
  • Industry Experience: Experience applying principles of languages in professional settings, such as translation, localization, or natural language processing (NLP).


Skills:

  • Specialized Knowledge: Expertise in areas such as phonology, syntax, semantics.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze and interpret language data using both qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey complex language concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Capacity to identify and solve language issues, often within constraints of time and resources.
  • Attention to Detail: Thoroughness in reviewing language content for accuracy and appropriateness.
  • Computer Skills: Familiarity with language software, NLP tools etc.
  • Multilingual Proficiency: Fluency in multiple languages may be required for roles involving translation or cross-cultural communication.
