Bharat Ecolabs is a research-driven cleantech startup developing next-generation environmental technologies. Our current focus is on packaged sewage treatment plants (STPs), enzymatic wastewater treatment, and green hydrogen systems. We aim to design products that are not only technically robust but also sustainable, modular, and user-friendly.

Role Overview

We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Industrial Designer to lead the design of our upcoming product portfolio. The designer will be responsible for shaping product aesthetics, ergonomics, and usability while working closely with engineering, biotech, and business teams to ensure seamless integration of function and form.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the industrial design of Bharat Ecolabs' product range (packaged STPs, IoT-enabled modules, biotech devices, green energy systems, etc.).
  • Develop concept sketches, 3D models, and prototypes for new products.
  • Work with engineers to translate functional requirements into manufacturable, cost-effective, and user-centric designs.
  • Ensure sustainability and material innovation , exploring eco-friendly and recyclable alternatives to conventional materials.
  • Design for ease of use, modularity, and scalability , keeping Tier-2/3 towns and urban applications in mind.
  • Collaborate with branding and marketing teams to align product design with Bharat Ecolabs' brand identity and customer experience goals .
  • Conduct ergonomic, usability, and field tests to refine product design.
  • Stay updated with industrial design trends, manufacturing techniques, and cleantech industry requirements .

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Design / Product Design or related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in industrial/product design (experience in clean tech, environmental tech, or hardware startups is a plus).
  • Strong portfolio showcasing functional, innovative, and aesthetically appealing designs .
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Rhino, Fusion 360, or equivalent) and rendering tools.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and prototyping .
  • Strong visualization, sketching, and storytelling abilities.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment (engineering, biotechnology, and design).
  • A passion for sustainability, innovation, and problem-solving .

Compensation

  • ₹25,000 per month during a 6-month probation period .
  • Upon successful completion of probation, a salary revision can be expected based on performance and project contributions.
  • Additional growth opportunities as Bharat Ecolabs expands its product portfolio.
