FTRL focuses on developing safer, more sustainable technologies and promoting world-class safety and quality benchmarks.Role SummaryTheMechanical Testing Engineerwill be responsible for planning and conducting mechanical tests, analysing data, and preparing clear technical reports under the guidance of the lab head / technical lead.This is acore technical, lab-focused roleideal for someone who enjoys being on the test floor, working with equipment, and diving into data to understand how and why materials/components behave the way they do.Key ResponsibilitiesMechanical Testing & ExperimentsConduct mechanical tests (e.g. tension, compression, bending, shear, hardness, impact, etc.) as per relevant standards and internal proceduresAssist in setting up test rigs, fixtures, sensors and data acquisition systemsPrepare test specimens, ensure correct mounting/alignment, and run trials as requiredSupport development and refinement of test methods and fixturesData Analysis & ReportingRecord, validate and analyse test data with high accuracyUse basic statistical tools and engineering calculations to interpret resultsPrepare clear, concise test reports with data, graphs and technical conclusionsMaintain proper documentation and traceability for all tests performedEquipment & Lab PracticesOperate and perform basic troubleshooting on mechanical testing equipment (e.g. UTM, impact testers, hardness testers, etc.)Follow preventive maintenance and calibration schedules as guided by the lab head / QA teamAdhere to lab SOPs, work instructions and quality system requirementsMaintain a clean, safe and organised work areaQuality, Standards & SafetyExecute tests in line with applicable Indian and global standards (as trained)Follow quality procedures for sample identification, data recording and reportingEscalate any deviations, abnormalities or equipment issues to the supervisorComply with all safety guidelines and use appropriate PPEEligibility & QualificationsEducation:B.Sc. / B.E.inMechanical Engineering / Mechanics / Physicswith2-3 yearsof relevant lab testing / analysis experienceORM.Sc. / M.E. / M.TechinMechanical / Mechanics / Physicsor related field with1-2 yearsof relevant experienceTechnical Experience (Preferred)Hands-on experience in at least some of the following:Tensile, compression, bend, shear, hardness, impact or fatigue testingWorking with UTM and basic mechanical test fixturesData acquisition systems and sensors (load cells, extensometers, strain gauges, etc.)Familiarity with mechanical/materials testing standards (IS, EN, UL or similar)Comfort with engineering calculations and data handling in Excel (or equivalent)Key Skills & CompetenciesStrong fundamentals in mechanics/materialsHigh attention to detail and data accuracyGood documentation and report-writing skillsProblem-solving attitude and willingness to learn new test methodsAbility to follow procedures and work systematicallyComfortable working in a fast-paced, project-based lab environmentProfessional, dependable and collaborative
