Job Overview:
The Accounting Manager/Controller will ensure accurate and timely preparation and maintenance of financial statements, books, and records in compliance with GAAP. This role involves managing accounting systems and procedures, monitoring financial performance, executing payroll processing, and overseeing collections. The ideal candidate must have a strong command of Yardi, including lease abstraction, batch processing, and verification of lease terms.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee preparation of journal entries, accruals, and bank reconciliations.
Approve and manage Accounts Payable, ensuring timely payment processing.
File sales taxes and prepare 1099 forms in compliance with deadlines.
Manage Accounts Receivable and collections, ensuring no outstanding balances and proactive follow-up on overdue payments.
Supervise the billing and collections process for accuracy and completeness.
Evaluate and report on the overall financial position, preparing periodic financial and operational reports.
Monitor and analyze actual performance versus budgeted projections.
Collaborate with senior leadership on strategic financial and capital expenditure planning.
Prepare Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations and statements.
Input and verify lease abstracts in Yardi, ensuring compliance with lease terms.
Manage vendor contracts, ensuring alignment with financial goals.
Support the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
Collaborate with external CPA on audit and tax-related matters.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, or a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in accounting management and financial statement preparation.
Minimum 3 years of experience in Commercial Real Estate (preferably in Building/Office Management).
Proficient in lease reading, abstracting, Yardi operations, and collections management.
Advanced skills in Excel and Yardi.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage priorities and financial tasks effectively.
Team-oriented mindset with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
