As part of our dynamic team, you will work in a fast-paced, innovative environment with exceptionally talented individuals. You will be involved in product development and implementation for P&C insurance clients and large commercial businesses, delivering solutions that improve customer engagement, business growth, and risk management.
We are seeking a Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and optimize our database systems, ensuring high performance, security, and availability. The ideal candidate will have experience in database administration, performance tuning, and backup/recovery strategies. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with front-end web portals and chatbots. A strong understanding of database management practices, including troubleshooting, scaling, and maintaining databases across different platforms, is essential.
Job Responsibilities
- Provision, configure, and maintain databases across multiple platforms, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
- Perform regular backups, restores, and disaster recovery tasks to safeguard data integrity and minimize downtime.
- Install, configure, and upgrade database systems as necessary to maintain a secure, efficient, and scalable environment.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize database performance to ensure efficient use of resources such as CPU, memory, and storage.
- Collaborate with database developers to implement performance tuning strategies and resolve database bottlenecks.
- Implement and enforce database security best practices, including role-based access control, data encryption, and auditing.
- Work with the security team to ensure databases are protected from unauthorized access and vulnerabilities.
- Develop, test, and execute backup and disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
- Regularly verify backup integrity and conduct recovery drills to test and improve recovery processes.
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure smooth database operations across production, testing, and development environments.
- Provide database support for various application projects and ensure the databases meet the needs of the business.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, backups, troubleshooting procedures, and other related processes.
- Generate regular reports on database performance, availability, and security status.
- Follow and enforce change control procedures to manage and document database changes.
- Track and resolve database incidents and service requests promptly to minimize operational impact.
Required Experience:
- 4 years of experience as a Database Administrator (DBA), managing and optimizing production databases across multiple environments (development, testing, and production).
- Expertise in database architecture, design, performance tuning , and lifecycle management for both relational and NoSQL databases.
- Experience managing the entire product database , including schema design, indexing, query optimization, and performance tuning for large-scale applications.
- Strong knowledge of backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies, ensuring data protection and minimal downtime. (In AWS)
- Hands-on experience with high availability , data replication , and scaling for large transaction volumes across distributed systems.
- Proficiency in database security practices, including role-based access, encryption, and compliance with security standards.
- Proven ability to work closely with cross-functional teams to align database infrastructure with product and business goals.
- Experience with database monitoring tools , troubleshooting, and resolving issues proactively.
- Solid understanding of change control procedures for database modifications and configuration management.
Additional Skills (Nice to Have):
- Experience with database replication and clustering for high availability.
- Familiarity with other database technologies such as NoSQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB , and cloud-based databases.
- Writing sample queries and stored procedures is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of database automation and management tools.
- Proficiency with version control systems like Git or SVN .
Educational Qualifications:
Engineering graduate or B. Tech/MCA with relevant major subjects like Computer Science.
Applicants with other advanced certifications in relevant areas will be preferred.
