About the Role -

Pharmaceutical Scouring (API/KSM) and Project Management experience in Contract Research and Contract Manufacturing in API/Intermediates/ Pharma/Agro

Qualifications - Engineering / Maters of Science/Chemistry. MBA will be good to have.

Responsibilities -

  • Handle all ongoing and new projects from process development stage till the manufacturing.
  • Responsible for on-time delivery of the project within stipulated scope and cost.
  • Sourcing pharmaceutical intermediates, KSM, Raw materials, and related services, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
  • Integrate all project activities and processes, from initial assessment and planning to final delivery & close-out:
  • This role is essentially optimizing the supply chain, following project management practices and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Supplier Management:

  • Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with reliable suppliers for pharmaceutical Intermediates, KSM, raw materials, finished goods, and services. Conduct supplier audits, negotiations, and performance assessments to ensure compliance with quality, regulatory, and cost standards. Maintain supplier databases and manage ongoing supplier communications to ensure supply continuity and risk mitigation.

Sourcing Strategy Development:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand sourcing requirements and develop strategic procurement plans. Gather market intelligence on emerging pharmaceutical trends, pricing, and new suppliers. Prepare regular reports on sourcing performance, cost savings, supplier performance, and market conditions.

Cost Control and Negotiations:

  • Lead price negotiations to ensure competitive pricing while maintaining high quality and service levels. Drive cost reduction initiatives while meeting production timelines and quality standards. Prepare and manage budgets and sale forecasts for MIS.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure all sourcing activities comply with relevant regulations (GxP, FDA, EMA, etc.) and industry standards. Monitor and address supply chain risks, such as potential shortages, regulatory issues, and geopolitical factors. Oversee the documentation and reporting of sourcing activities, ensuring full compliance with internal and external audit requirements.

Inventory and Supply Chain Management:

  • Work closely with logistics team to ensure timely delivery and minimize supply disruptions. Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders to forecast demand and ensure optimal stock levels of critical materials.

Project planning:

  • Understand the project objectives and customer requirements, develop project plan according to the customer & project needs, that includes project scope, timelines and deliverables.
  • Project initiation:
  • Review of project objectives, planning and scope with the customer and supplier. Align project governance with the customer’s needs & expectations, Conduct a project kick-off meeting.

Project execution:

  • Manage all project related communication (including periodic calls & reports), be the point of contact for all customer and supplier communications, Lead the project through each technical phase, ensure regulatory compliance, cost planning and allocation, track material procurement, prepare and review of risk mitigation plan, having issue logs and lessons learned documents at every stage of project, monitor and control the project status (quality, quantity, time and costs), close collaboration and alignment with the customer at all stages, revenue projection and keeping a track on recognizing the revenue after activity completion.

Project close-out:

  • Manage and control project plan with CDMO and timely project closure with detailed discussion and documentation with all stakeholders, formal wrap-up of the project with the customer/ supplier. Attending Japanese colleagues/customers for audits, site visits and business discussions.

Preferred Experience -

  • 6-12 years out of which minimum 5-6 years with CDMO organizations is mandatory
