Job Title: Director - Research & Development (R&D)
Location: Maharashtra
Reports To: Vice-Chancellor
Job Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Director of Research & Development (R&D) to lead our research strategy and foster a culture of innovation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving the development of research initiatives that align with the institution’s mission, overseeing research activities, securing funding, and establishing partnerships with industry and academic institutions. This role is critical in ensuring that our research outputs significantly contribute to both academic excellence and societal impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Research Strategy Development & Execution: Design and implement a comprehensive research strategy that aligns with the institution’s goals and promotes interdisciplinary research.
Funding Acquisition: Identify and secure research funding from government agencies, private sectors, and international bodies to support diverse research projects.
Partnership Development: Build and maintain strategic partnerships with industry, government bodies, academic institutions, and other stakeholders to enhance research opportunities.
Innovation and Technology Transfer: Oversee the commercialization of research outputs, including patents, technology transfers, and startup initiatives.
Research Ethics and Compliance: Ensure all research activities adhere to ethical guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Capacity Building: Develop and implement training programs to enhance the research skills of faculty and students.
Performance Monitoring: Evaluate the impact of research activities and outputs, ensuring alignment with the institution’s objectives.
Interdisciplinary Research: Create platforms and opportunities for interdisciplinary research and commercialization of products utilizing specific skills from various departments.
Qualifications:
A Ph. D. or equivalent in a relevant field.
A minimum of 10 years of experience in research, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Proven track record in securing research funding and managing large-scale research projects.
Experience in technology transfer, innovation management, and commercialization of research.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
