Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive Finance Controller to oversee financial, operational, and project management functions for our new Bangalore office. As part of a global furniture consultancy working closely with our teams in Dubai and London, the Finance Controller will ensure accurate financial reporting, manage budget control, and support the operational efficiency of our business. This role involves managing financial activities, chasing invoices, checking orders, and liaising with international stakeholders to support smooth operations and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with local and international standards.
- Provide financial insights to support the company’s strategic decision-making and contribute to global reporting for Dubai and London teams.
- Oversee the financial close process and ensure timely, accurate consolidation.
Project & Operations Management:
Track and manage project budgets, timelines, and deliverables to ensure alignment with company objectives.
Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and clients to ensure timely invoicing, payments, and order management.
Support order processing and follow up on pending orders, ensuring that all client orders are accurately logged and tracked through to completion.
Work closely with operational teams in Dubai and London to ensure process alignment, order fulfillment, and efficient cross-border communication.
Budgeting, Forecasting, and Cash Flow Management:
- Lead the annual budgeting process and develop quarterly forecasts, adapting plans based on business needs.
- Monitor cash flow and manage working capital to support the day-to-day operations of the Bangalore office and contribute to the financial stability of the global team.
- Drive cost control initiatives and identify opportunities for operational savings and efficiencies.
Compliance, Risk & Control:
- Ensure compliance with local statutory regulations, taxation, and company policies.
- Establish strong internal controls to protect assets and minimize financial risks associated with cross-border operations.
- Support due diligence efforts related to vendor selection and client engagement.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Build and lead a local finance and operations team, fostering a collaborative environment that emphasizes accountability and continuous improvement.
- Mentor and guide team members, helping them to understand the financial, operational, and project management aspects of the business.
Qualifications and Skills
Education:
CA (Chartered Accountant), CPA, CMA, or MBA in Finance.
Experience:
- 8-10 years in finance, with a minimum of 3-5 years in a managerial role as a Finance Controller or equivalent.
- Proven experience in project management and operations within a consulting, furniture, or retail industry is a plus.
- Experience in managing international stakeholder relationships is highly preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in financial software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and MS Excel for advanced financial modeling and reporting.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
- Knowledge of Indian accounting standards (Ind AS) and international standards (IFRS).
Competencies:
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across global teams.
- Self-motivated and adaptable to a start-up environment with a hands-on approach.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
