Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Mechanical Design and Fabrication Intern at ProjectX Labs in Bengaluru. The intern will play an integral role in the design, prototyping, and fabrication processes, with a specific focus on 3D printing and mechanical assemblies. They will be responsible for contributing to the development of cutting-edge projects, performing maintenance tasks, and identifying leads for advanced 3D printing capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the engineering team to design and develop mechanical components and assemblies.
Create detailed CAD models and technical drawings using tools like SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or AutoCAD.
Operate 3D printers to produce prototypes and functional components, and oversee the 3D printing process.
Identify, research, and establish connections with potential leads for 3D printing services, advanced materials, or fabrication techniques to enhance project outcomes.
Inspect fabricated components and prototypes to ensure quality and adherence to design specifications.
Perform maintenance and troubleshooting of tools and equipment in the prototyping lab.
Support automotive-related engineering projects and hands-on fabrication tasks.
Document design iterations, fabrication processes, and project insights for reporting purposes.
Qualifications:
Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
Hands-on experience with 3D printing and fabrication tools such as CNC machines and laser cutters.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
Ability to research and identify industry leads for 3D printing and fabrication services.
Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, including automotive systems.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
Enthusiasm for hardware engineering, prototyping, and innovative problem-solving.
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
