2. ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND:
Development Alternatives (DA) , a 40 year old social enterprise dedicated to building rural enterprises, through one of its Special Purpose Vehicle, offers a complete range of online services, to help build and grow rural enterprises. The organization is committed to delivering development outcomes that are socially equitable, environmentally sound, and economically scalable. To further support micro-entrepreneurs, the Development Alternatives Group established the Indian Micro Enterprises Development Foundation (IMEDF) as its social enterprise arm. IMEDF focuses on unleashing entrepreneurship through retail and digital platforms under the udya ME brand. It also serves as the nodal agency for the Ministry of MSME’s SFURTI scheme, which promotes sustainable cluster-based development.

With the booming tech based solutions in different sectors, and concurrent penetration of internet in rural India, it is evident that grassroots problems can be addressed using technology platforms. The udya ME platform (udyame.in) is a mobile app as well as a website to unleash micro-entrepreneurship by catering to all unmet demands of the entrepreneur under one umbrella.

Reporting to General Manager the Business Manager - udya ME Platform will spearhead efforts to strengthen the udya ME platform's impact and outreach. The role involves understanding the needs of rural entrepreneurs, driving platform-based sales and marketing strategies, forging key partnerships, and implementing strategies for sustainable growth. The ideal candidate will bring a customer-centric approach, sales expertise, and hands-on experience in scaling digital solutions for social impact.
Key Responsibilities:
(1) Product Alignment : Understand the unique needs of rural micro-entrepreneurs and align the product roadmap to address their challenges effectively;
(2) Sales and Marketing Strategy : Lead the development and execution of marketing and sales strategies to promote enterprise support services and expand the ‘ udya ME ’ platform's user network;
(3) Partnership Development : Build and strengthen strategic partnerships with stakeholders to elevate the ‘ udya ME ’ brand and foster collaborative growth;
(4) Performance Management : Drive business outcomes, including customer acquisition, revenue growth, and delivery of platform-based products and services;
(5) Strategic Growth Initiatives : Design and implement transformational strategies to enhance the platform’s performance, profitability, and market reach.
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualifications:
Postgraduate diploma/degree in Management, Business Administration, or Marketing.
Experience :
(1) Four to six years of relevant experience in the development or private sector, preferably in areas such as MSME development , digital product sales , rural enterprise promotion , or microfinance ;
(2) Exposure to web development or digital product ecosystems will be an added advantage.
Key Skills and Competencies:
(1) Understanding of Micro-Entrepreneurship : Practical knowledge of the challenges and opportunities in rural enterprise development;
(2) Sales Expertise : Proven experience in designing and executing sales initiatives to drive customer acquisition, revenue, and business growth;
(3) Digital Product Marketing : Track record in selling digital products or services aligned with social, environmental, and economic goals (triple bottom line impact);
(4) Customer-Centric Approach : Demonstrated ability to blend grassroots engagement with corporate client-facing responsibilities;
(5) Communication and Problem-Solving : Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a practical, results-oriented mindset.
(6) Adaptability : Willingness to travel extensively (approximately 10 days/month) to rural areas, subject to safety and pandemic-related restrictions.

Gross compensation budgeted for the position is attractive. The offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and salary history.
