Experience Required: Minimum 15+ years in finance and accounting, preferably in the construction/EPC industry
Qualification: B.Com, Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent
Role Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented professional to join our construction company as the Head of Accounts. This role demands extensive experience in project accounting, financial management, and team leadership. The ideal candidate should be hands-on, hardworking, and capable of managing all aspects of accounts and finance with precision and efficiency while nurturing and training the accounting team.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting and Financial Management
- Oversee end-to-end financial and project accounting for multiple large-scale construction projects.
- Ensure accurate bookkeeping, reconciliation, and preparation of financial statements.
- Handle fund management, optimize cash flow, and ensure efficient allocation of resources.
- Prepare and analyze MIS reports, project-wise P&L, and balance sheets to aid decision-making.
- Lead internal, statutory, and project-specific audits, ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements.
Project Accounting
- Develop and implement robust project accounting systems to monitor costs, revenues, and profitability for individual projects.
- Ensure compliance with contractual and financial obligations for all ongoing projects.
- Liaise with project managers and site teams to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of financial data.
Leadership and Team Management
- Lead, train, and mentor the accounts team to build technical expertise and operational efficiency.
- Ensure smooth coordination among various departments for financial data and reports.
- Develop and implement training programs for team members to ensure continuous learning and skill enhancement.
Strategic Contribution
- Work closely with senior management to provide insights on cost-saving opportunities and financial performance.
- Assist in budgeting and financial forecasting for the company and individual projects.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure timely compliance with taxation laws (TDS, GST, VAT, etc.) and other financial regulations.
- Handle queries and represent the company during income tax assessments and other statutory proceedings.
Hands-On Involvement
- Be actively involved in critical day-to-day accounting operations when required, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Resolve discrepancies and troubleshoot issues within the financial system.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of project-based accounting, taxation, and compliance in the EPC/construction sector.
- Hands-on experience with fund management, MIS reporting, and audit processes.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as ERP and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Strong analytical skills with a detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent leadership and team management capabilities.
- Positive attitude, ability to handle pressure, and a commitment to deadlines.
Qualifications & Experience
- B.Com, Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent mandatory.
- Minimum 15+ years of experience in accounts, with at least 3 years in a Infrastructure company.
- Proven track record in fund management, cost monitoring, and compliance.
